Myth

(Fizz Wizz) Space Dust (Pop Rocks) was a 1980's sweet that consisted of small 'dust' that fizzed on tongue giving a funny sensation and a strong fruit taste. This is achieved by releasing Carbon Dioxide.

The story is that eating a lot of Space Dust and then downing a large quantity of (non-brand specific) cola would result in a huge gas buildup in the stomach that would prove to be explosive and therefore fatal.

Reality

The amounts of carbon dioxide being released by the astronautical confectionary is minimal. But the biggest damning feature of this terrific urban myth is that; how can it be put politely. The body has its own method of removing excess gas from the digestive system. If you catch my drift (waft).
