Myth: Polar Bears cover their noses while hunting

Do Polar Bears really cover their noses while hunting?

Myth

In order to hide the only non-camouflaged part of their body whilst approaching their prey, Polar Bears hide their black noses with one paw.

Reality

Get serious! I mean apart from the reality that wildlife programs don’t show Polar Bears hobbling around on all “threes” it’s plainly the stupidest thing I’ve heard yet (and that’s saying something).

But in case you are in any doubt, there is the basic fact that Polar Bears hunt using smell might me a give away. What about their paws? What about their eyes?

With the exception of the Polar Bear wearing white sun glasses, gloves and walking on three limbs, it’s a total myth.

As exposed on the Polar Bear International website.
