Myth

The story goes that Walt Disney arranged to have himself frozen in cryonic chamber full of liquid nitrogen upon his death waiting for the day medical technology makes it possible to bring him back to life.

Reality

You can see the appeal of this story. Walt Disney's privacy regarding his personal life, secrecy regarding his funeral arrangements and his love of technological innovation has given this otherwise unbelievable Urban Myth 'legs'.

The reality is somewhat less space age and far more human. Walt finally succumbed to cancer by suffering a heart attack. He died on the 15th December 1966.

He was then cremated two days later as per the details on his death certificate; the details of which have all been authenticated.

Perhaps it's a sign of the love towards Walt Disney that people didn't wish for him to go and therefore the idea of him being able to come back has such a strong grip on the American public.
